What will you learn?
The MBA courses in human resource management, including the MBA in HR with Placement at KV Institute of Management and Information Studies (KVIM), offer a comprehensive two-year program structured across four semesters. Designed in line with the syllabus recommended by Anna University, the program provides students with strong academic foundations along with exceptional corporate exposure and practical experience-oriented learning, making it one of the most effective HR programs in Coimbatore. The first two semesters are common across all MBA specializations, while the final two semesters focus specifically on Human Resource Management.
Semester 1 – Foundation for Management
Semester 1 is designed to build strong managerial foundations essential for all MBA specializations. Students study core subjects such as statistics for management, management concepts and organizational behavior, managerial economics, accounting for decision making, legal aspects of business, and information management. The curriculum also includes a non-functional elective such as entrepreneurship management or event management to encourage entrepreneurial thinking and practical exposure. Communication and interpersonal skills are strengthened through contemporary business communication laboratory sessions, while ethical awareness and value-based leadership are developed through seminars on Indian ethos and business ethics.
Semester 2 – Core Functions of Management
Semester 2 focuses on developing a comprehensive understanding of core management functions across human resources, marketing, finance, business analytics, and operations management. Students gain analytical and research-oriented skills through applied operations research and business research methods, while functional expertise is built through financial management, human resource management, operations management, business analytics, and marketing management. Practical application is reinforced through data analysis and business modelling laboratory sessions and creativity and innovation laboratory activities, ensuring students are well prepared for real-world managerial challenges.
Corporate Exposure & Real-Time Learning
KV Institute of Management and Information Studies (KVIM) ensures strong industry readiness through experiential learning opportunities and structured internship programs that build professional confidence. During and after the first year, students actively participate in industrial visits to leading companies, faculty-guided mini consulting projects with local organizations, and ultra short-term CI3 projects conducted in collaboration with more than 150 MoU partner companies. Expert and guest lectures delivered by senior corporate executives provide valuable industry insights, while summer projects and internship programs after the second semester strengthen hands-on exposure. These initiatives enhance industry understanding and prepare students for human resource roles even before they enter their final year.
Semester 3 – Core HR Specialization
Semester 3 is dedicated to advanced human resource specialization, where students focus on contemporary and industry-relevant HR subjects. The curriculum covers areas such as knowledge management and innovation, industrial relations and labour legislations, negotiation and conflict management, reward and compensation management, international human resource management, and managing human resources in the digital age. These subjects equip students with the strategic, legal, and people-management skills required for modern HR leadership roles.
Semester 4 – Project Work
The final semester is fully devoted to comprehensive HR project work, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge and classroom learning to real organizational challenges. Under the guidance of faculty and industry mentors, students gain hands-on experience in HR strategy, policy implementation, organizational development, and workforce management in real business environments.
